Wednesday-- At NHI

Grandma went in today to have her blood pressure checked and **I Believe...I was not there, so not positive***that her heart rate was really high. They had her prepped at Nebraska Heart Institute for surgery but when the doc came in and did a few tests and listened to some things he decided that she has Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I have not done alot of the reading but it seems that this is where the brain and heart are not communicating clearly on when the blood is supposed to flow differently (when she stands up) and this is what's causing the dizziness.

The website to the article they got is www.hrtcare.com/neurosyn.asp Feel free to do some reading on it.

Right now they're changing her medications and think that they can get it straightened out this way.

12:20 Going

Getting the paper to sign and head out. Love you all and see you at home.

Coming Home!

As we left last night around 10:00 she tried to get up to potty and got dizzy. She was frustrated by this point. When we got here early this morning they said she had no more "spells" and has been doing great. She does have some swelling and bruising over the incision so she is supposed to see a cardiologist next week to keep an eye on it. She's looking so much better this morning and is ready! She didn't get to eat this morning because they were coming in to "check" her pacemaker but they didn't need to do anything further so they said she could go home!

We of course now are waiting for her food to come up and for the doc to come back around with the paperwork and the final ok but they did say that she'd get to go home. She's very anxious to go home now.

She cannot use her left arm for 4 weeks. No lifting over her head and no more than 5 pounds (remind her if you see her doing something she's not supposed to!) Also, no driving for a month! She has to call and "check-in" with her pacemaker once a week for 4 weeks and then once every 3 months.

STILL WAITING FOR FOOD! :)

dinner time

Having mac'n'cheese and fruit and sherbet for supper.
She was sleeping soundly when they came in to take her down for an x-ray. Got up too fast and got light headed. So they took her down in a bed. Didn't go to well, she told them she was going down. Got to her knees before they got her. So sometime during all this she got a hematoma(bruise) around her incision. So now she's worried that the spells aren't done. They are not too concerned about.it around here.
I will probably stay here in the hospital tonight with Mom. And Brooke and Stacy will go back to our little apartment.
THey say the goal is to get her discharge by 10:00am We'll see.

she's done!

She's back and spit-fire as normal. They didn't put her completely out so she could tell how to do it! Her doctor's name is Osborne of course she asked if he was related to Tom. He isn't They didn't lose any sponges up in there, good sign. She's already ordered a deli sandwich, hasn't eaten since supper last night. That's some diet plan.
She is bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Max and Vicky are leaving now. I hear they're going to be driving into a snow storm.
till later.
